What we will do
You’ve probably heard of Shibuya Crossing and Harajuku, but are you familiar with the backstreets of Tokyo? During this Backstreets of Tokyo Bike Tour, you’ll explore central Tokyo, coasting down hidden alleyways, and get insights into the local life in Tokyo. In addition to Japanese traditional religious places, such as Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples, you’ll explore old shopping streets frequented with locals (so you know it’s gotta be good!).
On this Tokyo bike tour, you’ll find yourself among the labyrinthine pathways of Tokyo with a local guide, and try traditional Japanese foods which cannot be found in the typical restaurants. These tiny mom-and-pop restaurants and street stalls serve up local ingredients with big flavors, to fuel your journey!
The Backstreets of Tokyo Bike Tour includes several stops, including Matsuchiyama Shoten
Temple, one of the constituent temples of Sensoji, Tokyo’s oldest temple. People come here to pray for love, family harmony, and prosperity in business. Its symbol is the daikon radish and you can find daikon offerings and imagery on the temple grounds. You will also visit Imado Shrine, a power spot for couples and those looking for love.
This tour will introduce off-the-beaten-path shopping streets and street foods like yakitori and oden. You’ll get to visit Kappabashi Dougu (also known as “Kitchen Town” or “Kitchen Street”) where you can find kitchen tools, tableware, and plastic food replicas.
During the Backstreets of Tokyo Bike Tour, you’ll see a new side of Tokyo, riding around unique old-time shopping arcades and visiting. On our tours, we are passionate about showing you the lesser-known parts of central Tokyo.
