What we will do

In my special Japanese cooking and culture class taken place in central Tokyo, you’ll learn how to make a traditional Udon noodle dish, and experience Japanese calligraphy.

We start from making your own Udon noodles from scratch – with a lot of mixing and kneading, using your feet!

While we let the Udon dough rest and be ready for cooking, you will try Japanese calligraphy. Yes, you will learn how to write a word in Japanese using a special brush and ink, and create a piece of artwork to take home.

Once your dough is ready, we’ll roll it out, cut it into strips, boil, and turn it into a delicious Udon dish! Of course you’ll taste your freshly cooked Udon.

You will get a recipe so you are able to make Udon noodles back home!!

Wakana 1

Hi, I’m Wakana.

I was born and grew up here in Tokyo. I’ve lived in Australia and Canada to study English.

I really like to meet new people, make friends and talk about different cultures. At the moment I offer Calligraphy, Cooking, Origami and Tsumami-zaiku workshops.

I am a licensed calligraphy instructor. I’ve been learning Japanese Calligraphy (“Shodo”) since I was 8 years old.

I also studied Nutrition and have worked as a dietitian. I love to eat, I live to eat!! If you like fish, I can take you to the best Japanese restaurant!

I want to introduce Japanese culture in a fun way. My main goal is to help visitors to Japan have a memorable time here:)

Where we will meet

The workshop is held in central Tokyo, it’s about 10 minutes away from Akihabara or Ueno.

What I will provide

◎Ingredients for Udon noodle dish

◎Green tea

◎A recipe of Udon

◎Calligraphy tools, paper etc

What to bring

Please do not come barefoot as it will be held in a local home otherwise you need to purchase socks.
